Welcome to my nest everyone!
I welcome all comments, opinons, constructive criticism, and light hearted gossip.
The only rules: No question or comment is too small and if you disagree, state your case with respect and candor.
I’m here on earth to have fun and talk about “it”….so let me know what you want to discuss and let’s get to it!
Hi! Wow, you are in the big time now. Can’t wait to read more of your insights. I typed a bunch of other stuff, but then I remebered this was a blog. Hope you’re having a good day at work. Erin
Write whatever you want. Okay, so in the Secondhand Smoke book: Wilson just went down to Louisiana to get his homeless mother and bring her back to live with him. Why does she hate her kids so much? Do we ever figure that out? I can’t imagine how this one will end; I DO NOT feel a hug coming on. Your thoughts.
Cool. Erin’s on here. I also really like the look of these comments with the little cartoon talking bubbles. Nice work on the new pages too, Rob. Looks like you deleted your article though. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Good morning.
Hey everyone! Monday is done and overwith; the rest of the week lies ahead and I am truly hopeful that my only direction is up. Looking forward to working through Saturday….always enjoy a Monday morning meeting that lets you know about Saturday right off the bat. That would be sarcasm.
On a brighter note. I can’t get enough of this snow! Love it. Thanks for playing along, I’ll see if I can’t find us some more inciteful thinkers.
Hey Erin, what are you reading?
Wow Robin, this is cool!
Robin–this is awesome. You have your very own website! Hope your Holidays were grand. Can’t think of anything I would like to comment on right now, but given a little time to think about I ‘m sure I could come up with something pretty interesting. I must go play raquetball now and get rid of the extra poundage brought on by Holiday goodies and such. Have a great day everyone! The Debmeister Keep rockin’and a rollin’:)
Robin, first let me say “I am impressed w/ the website.” Ok it doesn’t take much to impress me. You have done fine. Ok actually I am jealous. I have a serious single male candidate for you. He is 36(I think). I noticed just the other day he is listed on MSN
singles. He lives in Schuyler. No I wasn’t searching…yet. It was Sunday and my football team sucks. Let me know if you see him. I know him so…you have a connection.
Jill
Rob, wow, only a few days and you already have readers! That’s better than my blogs have done. 😉
By the way, and this is for everyone participating, the blog will automatically turn text-smileys into graphic smileys. It’s a cool feature, there’s a chart half-way down this page. Here’s a test:
😀 🙂 🙁 😛 😮 🙄
Jill,
It’s great to know someone is watching out for me. I’ve never been on any of those websites, too chicken or just not quite ready to go shopping for men….even if it is just window shopping, I’m still holding out for the “accidental meeting”. I’ll have to check it out.
Jason gave me this toy for Christmas and I thought it would be fun to get a group of people we all know together. You never know what could happen. Jason is getting married in March…there goes my private IT guy and now I’m the last Simanek to go. Yikes!:O
Maureen, thanks for blogging. Don’t you know any single lawyers or judges for Jill and I….I hear the second time you are supposed to marry for money…. isn’t that right Jill? 🙂 Jus and I went to The Lion King a couple of weeks ago…wonderful show! I must stick to my plan to attend a couple a year.
THe boys, my mom and I will be going to the Lion King on my birthday thanks to my sister giving us Holland Center gift certs last year, can’t wait, was it fun?
Jill would not want an attorney or judge I would know, trust me, nor would you! Now I understand some engineers aren’t too bad… I’ll keep my eyes open gals.
Ok everyone. Something new. Please click on “register” and fill it out. Apparently, it will make commenting easier and quicker for all.
Does anyone have any thoughts about Valentine’s Day? Hate it or love it? Indifferent?
I’m thinking of pitching an idea to FTD. What do you think?: They have a whole new advertising campaign where you send flowers to yourself but the card is signed: “Your secret admirer”. Just to get people talking around the water cooler. My thought is that if a better percentage of the single people did this every Feb 14th and it became a normal thing….we would all get flowers and it wouldn’t be seen as a sad and pitiful way to go. Your thoughts? I like flowers no matter how I can get them. Any old excuse will do. 😀

Well…..if the spammers give me a price I can’t refuse….
Marnie,
You will love it! The boys will love it! I wish I could have gone back stage and got to see everything up close. Amazing and imaginative. Have fun and Happy Birthday.
I told someone I was 39 yesterday…then I was thinking about it….I’m only 38 right? June will come soon enough, I guess if I er…it should be younger.
Only two more days of work…..
Hey everybody!
Send a shout out to Fred…he coaches the boys bball team and they are in the East Husker Conference this weekend.
We are cheering them on FRED!!!
Ok Jill,
I went to that singles website….I didn’t see anyone on there from Schuyler but the whole experience made me feel extremely sad. I guess that’s why I don’t check those things out. They all seem so pathetic and you know most of them are lying. I’m too old fashioned I guess, but if it helps people meet….what the heck…just not for me.
I can’t imagine I would ever participate in someting like that, seems cold and sterile.
Just my opinion. Anyone else got one?
Hey cuz!! Am looking at your website right now and find it fun!! Hope you and Justice and whomever else you were with this weekend had some fun!! Hey…have you been sledding at all since this last snow? I am trying to find someone to go with me!!:) We have a huge hill in Lincoln near the Airpark and you have one right behind your house….
Unfortunately Gina, I have been unable to claim that I was “with” someone for many, many years now…..but thanks for asking. 😮
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 Nice.
Hey everybody, please take note of the new ‘Recent Comments’ area on the left panel. The three most recent comments will always be displayed there regardless of which post they are associated with (assuming Robin will write a new post ever :D).
I have a question: Would it be better if the ‘Submit Comment’ box were located at the end of the comments list rather than the beginning as it is now?
Also, if you are trying to use the smileys, apparently there has to be a ‘space’ on each side of the smiley for it to work right. Here’s an example of what doesn’t work and then what does:
(:oHELLO and 😮

😯
Oh Yeah–I’m in. A polka dance would be just the thing for a few of us wild-n-crazy-86er’s. Is there certain attire one must wear to be a polka dancer? I know when you square dance the more ruffles the better and when you break dance the more bandanas the better, but polka dancing has got me wondering. That would’ve been fun last Sunday, wish I could’ve made it. We’ll pick a night and head to the Starlight—–fun. By the way, to all you romance seekers out there. It doesn’t get any more romantic on Valentine’s Day when your husband takes you to Bass Pro to buy HIMSELF fishing poles. Oh yeah, romance 101 he did not sign up for, but hey, at least he took me shopping in a sense. ha ha If only I had a walleye suit and swam under water. My hubby would be all over that. Until I start saying glub glub and chasing fishing lures, romance is out for this chick. It’s all good though. Sometimes he’ll even let me cook the fish he catches. If that’s not true love…………
Robin…
I’m aboard now. A rather slow Friday afternoon…having said that, I have just jinxed myself, as I am on call today for all hospitals!
Valentine’s Day went rather well for me…I’ve met my match…Debbie has met him on NYE. You would approve as well. He cooked me salmon…and it was to die for. (however, he did not go catch it himself, as Wynn might have).
My guy & I both have said what fun it would be to hit Starlight, without ever seeing these blogs. We would be in for a group night…if schedules clicked and stars aligned!
I’ll keep eyes open for a love-connection.
Take care!
My Valentine flowers came from the florist after I paid for my 16 yr olds girlfriends flowers. Three roses that I used to get my own three kids going. Anyway…polka dancing?
Do they serve kolaches?
Just checked in and see you’re doing Starlight next month. I’ll put it on the calendar. I’m taking the spouse to Vegas for his 50th the weekend before, so I’m not sure if I’ll have a sitter or that Terry will be upright after 3 days of gambling. My mom usually flees quickly after a few days alone with the little men in my house.
ooohhhh….50! That’s a biggy. I wish him luck at the tables.
It would be great to see you both again, I hope you can make it.
I’ve been so busy at work and we had the flu a couple of weekends ago that I haven’t even logged on lately. My deadline was the 8th; I still need to finish my March article….too tired to be inspired I guess.
I hope things are better with you.
Greetings from Japan. Good job Robin.
Greetings from Japan. Robin you did a nice job on this site.
Very nice site Robin! 🙂 Something cool for us 86’ers! It was great seeing everyone this summer @ the reunion I had a blast! My mom wants me to come out for hers this year, I asked why, didn’t she have her class reunion @ ours? lol
Larry and Amy and Shelly,
Welcome! And thanks Deb.:)
How’s the weather in Japan? I guess I lost track of you Larry. What are you doing over there again? I’m jealous by the way.
Great to hear from you.
Amy is 3.5 years away from retirement in the USN. I spend most of my time touring Japan. The weather here is great, no snow.
Hey Larry my 16 year old is taking Japanese in school and totally loves it. He wants to go with his class next year to visit. I attempted some cooking….but had a few issues with it. Funny thing I told his teacher, yes we tried cooking japanese last night but ended up with chinese! lol
Shelly
Robin, ever hear about the new book out called “The secret” ? It’s all over the news and in new age bookstores. We started watching the video and I thought of a positive way to think of my husband that I sent out in a email. Here’s a copy:
Did you ever watch a video called “The Secret?” It’s about postive thinking and how it directs your life. It’s interesting and I follow a lot of it but I think besides postive thinking….God has a lot to do with it also and he isn’t really mentioned (well I only saw the 1st 1/2 last night) They say all you have to do is ask…keep your eye on what you want and the universe will grant it to you….(yeah right). The universe isn’t a thinking feeling body but God is right? I strive to stay happy because I like other people being happy…which is hard with a husband who can be a grouch. But I thought of a way to turn his cheapness around yesterday. Here it goes: My husband know’s I’m am trying to lose weight and since he cares about me he finds ways to help me. LIke yesterday we went to visit his Father in the hospital and since he looks out for me he had us park a 1/2 mile away from the hospital to enjoy the walk and get exercise. Not that he is too damn cheap to fork over $3 bucks for the parking garage!!! Now how is that for positive thinking lol Sometimes I make myself laugh!!!!
What a positive way to look at things Shelly! I’ll have to utilize that way of thinking the next time my hubby tips the waitress……… ha ha Hey Rob–I don’t know about the Starlite yet. Baseball started and that will be our life for the next 3 months. James has a tournament that weekend. If they get done early I’ll be there—-with my ruffles.(and I’m not talking the potato chips) Everbody have an excellent Spring! Can you believe all the flowers are coming back–again! I love the SPring!!!
Hey Deb here’s our sports website: http://www.nutmegkart.com
It’s our intro into NASCAR! Anytime anyone wants to come out and watch a race let me know. After all CT is only a road trip away!
You’re right Shelly and I can honestly say that I have all I need, I am the most fortunate person I know. My whole family is healthy, I have the perfect kid for me and she is definitely going to continue my legacy because she is just like me, against all odds I’m a single mother who owns her own home, not just a home but my dream home, I have a good job, I have great neighbors right now…no meth is being dealt next door, and….I’m going to a polka dance with some of my friends soon. LIFE IS GOOD!!!
As long as you don’t tell me I have to give up my sarcasm, I will be the most positive thinker around.
I feel like I can make anything happen if I go for it and the guy thing will happen too. The world just rotates slightly slower here in farm country and high strung powerful women must learn to wait and let things happen in all aspects of life. Right Deb? Marnie? Angie?
Wouldn’t you agree?
By the way Shelly……I added your site to my Blogroll. Cool stuff….check it out everybody. Is the description okay?
The link is fine Robin, if you want to put instead it’s go-kart racing that’s fine. We have a different president so hopefully this one will allow pictures of the winners each week. So keep eyes out for Ed, Richard & Travis on wins! (keeping my fingers crossed) and hopefully this year will be a slow year for the EMT’s. Yes the accidents can be real scarey, especially when it’s your kid involved.
IT’S THURSDAY!!!!!! One more day till the weekend!!!!! Anyone want to fly out for a drink 🙂
Hey Robin,
In case anyone else out there has a myspace my site is: http://www.myspace.com/racingangel86 I have a site because this way I can watch who and what my kids are speaking too. But for any of the 86’ers I also have racing pictures. 🙂
The NASCAR reference was a little joke. I think I’ll keep it.
Good luck at the races!
Welcome Wendi!!!
I’m glad you are enjoying the site. Thanks for the comments and it was great talking to you the other day.
I’ll have to think about the trumpet thing and the Community Band deal. I guess I feel if I do that, then Rollie will think it’s okay to assume I will play my horn for all of the Legion events…..and that would put you out of a job. Maybe I should just refrain so the world doesn’t fly off it’s axis. 🙂
Thanks for joining us and let me know if there is any topic you are curious about.
OK All! I’m on my way by pony express (aka van), since my husband won’t fly. See you Thursday for a birthday drink with Robin!!!! By the way Robin, I’ve been 39 since April and I don’t feel any different! I think I’m mentally stuck @ 21. lol Oh I hope everyone had fun @ Old Settlers since I couldn’t make it this year 🙁 Hard when kids don’t get out of school till June 19th.
Bye!!!!
Robin, I sent your article out to friends and had many replies. But here is a copy of part of a letter a friend wrote back to me:
“I loved reading the lovely article. It is truly full of a breath of fresh air. I shared it with naturalist and audubon friends, as well as my friend, Susan Mc Clanahan, a New York publisher! She is coming to visit next week and her enthusiasm for your friend’s writing style was quite evident; so much so, that I know we will be discussing it again! She is dedicated to finding and helping young writers.”
So I lost your email, please resend it to me with contact numbers in case I am asked how to get ahold of you.
